Cannibal Corpse: Now at Numbers May 12.
Things have been quiet on the former Meridian/Wired Live front since the flurry of events surrounding the lockout of former Wired Live owner Anosh Ahmed a few weeks back. Perhaps, as they say in most Westerns, a little too quiet.

Despite a few tweets and re-tweets earlier today that claimed the Old Chinatown club "is no more," the still-unnamed venue's acting general manager, Jeff Barry, insists that everything is fine.

"It's not true," he told Rocks Off a few minutes ago. "We are in business."

However, all shows listed on the venue's Web site save the "House Hoodlums" multi-DJ event scheduled for May 15 have either been moved to the Warsaw, Numbers or a location TBD. All the shows that were moved (see below) were booked by Mike Kelly's Onstage Events company.

Kelly, who announced he was leaving the then-Wired Live to open the Warsaw early last month, said he was unable to comment on the situation due to a non-disclosure agreement. As of this writing, he had not returned an email from Rocks Off asking for an update on the Warsaw, which he told us last month he planned to open May 22.

Barry told Rocks Off he wishes Kelly well with the Warsaw, and that although he is in the process of finding a permanent booking agent, he expects to be open for business Friday, when his facility is scheduled to host a private party for Houston Splash. He added that he had already booked four shows Monday, including a fetish ball on May 22.

"The long and short of this is we are in business," he said. "We are fine."

Here are the shows listed on meridianhouston.com that have been moved:

Bleeding Through/Born of Osiris (Friday): The Warsaw (1515 Pease)

Horse the Band (Saturday): The Warsaw

Dying Fetus (Monday, May 10): Numbers (300 Westheimer)

Cannibal Corpse (Wednesday, May 12): Numbers

Asking Alexandria (Friday, May 14): Location TBD

At the moment, that's all Rocks Off knows, and is able to print, about the situation. But we're sure there will be more coming soon.
