Just in time to rob you of your hard-earned tax refunds, the summer concert season is finally here. Yes, you will be forgoing oil changes, dye jobs and tuition payments for the next few months to afford everything coming through Houston. Thank God for that too, because we were starting to wonder if the touring world was forgetting us. Wilco, we have plenty of large musical venues here you can hit up. Just saying...
Today little monsters the city over sold out the Lady Gaga show set for Toyota Center on July 25 within a reported six minutes after tickets went on the market. Never fear, Gagateers, a second show was added for the next night, July 26. Those tickets go on sale next Friday at 10 a.m., again at livenation.com
. We enjoy the Gaga more than a straight man should, so we will be at at least one of these.
Nu-metal's Korn is coming to town May 30 at Verizon Wireless Theater. Tickets are more than likely on sale already. Slow down guys, one at a time. Have you ever seen that episode of that reality show about the biker bar where Korn was headlining? Neither have we.
Tomorrow is a big day for ticket sales too. Jack Johnson and Robert Plant's respective dates at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion go on sale in the morning at 10 a.m. Plant is coming with his old pre-Zeppelin group Band Of Joy and Jack Johnson has G.Love tagging along with him doing a solo acoustic set. Plant hits town July 24, and Johnson will be here at the tail end of summer on August 18.
Tickets for the Vans Warped Tour and the Country Throwdown at The Showgrounds at Sam Houston Race Park also go public in less than 24 hours. The long-running Vans Warped Tour is going into it's 16th year of warping young suburban minds and the Country Throwdown will feature Crazy Heart
soundtrack star Ryan Bingham and his band The Dead Horses.
Lastly, get in metaphorical line now for Neil Young tickets. Front Gate Tickets
will begin selling tickets for his June 4 Jones Hall gig next Saturday at 10 a.m.. It's a solo acoustic tour, meaning it will be just Neil Young, 50 years of music and a lot of guitars. Nerd heaven, y'all.
See ya there.
