Ever wish you had a pen pal like Hollywood F.L.O.S.S. when you were a kid? He's been sending out a mixtape called Art-or-Fiscal Intelligence to various bloggers around the U.S. You can listen online or download here, and read some of the props he's been getting.

Austinites Okkervil River recently announced what may be the most diabolically awesome collaboration of 2010 (depends on how that Thurston Moore/Jandek show goes in April) - they're recording an album with legendary '60s psych rocker and fellow Texan Roky Erickson, which is said to feature found records from Erickson's time in a mental hospital.

Action Town Records has some sexy photos of the new typographically-pleasing Something Fierce 7", now availble through their online store. They also found some long-lost copies of Teenage Kicks' LP "Uptight" pressed on brown vinyl.

DJ Dave Wrangler has a new mash-up EP out called N.A.S.A. vs. YACHT, "comprised of songs from N.A.S.A.'s "Spirit of Apollo" and YACHT's "See Mystery Lights" that are mixed and mashed together..."

Girls Guide To Rocking author Jessica Hopper is not coming to Houston in the spring, as previously reported, but she is doing book talks at SxSW. Sad face. Houston - always the bridesmaid.

The Energy, who opened for the late Jay Reatard last month, have released two songs from their upcoming debut album, they announced on Hands Up.

Finally, Bill Vonderhaar, a Houston student at The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, was chosen to perform in the 2010 Grammy Jazz Ensembles, a group of highly-talented high school musicians and vocalists from across the U.S. The Ensembles perform at various Grammy week events. The students get to attend the 52nd Annual Grammys on Jan. 31 as guests of The Recording Academy and will perform at the official Grammy Celebration Afterparty. Vonderhaar plays bass.
