Lonesome Onry and Mean: That Sucking Sound You Hear? It's KILT's Upcoming "Ten Man Jam"

What a something-for-everyone mish-mash local radio station KILT's annual "Ten Man Jam," its tenth, is this year. For one thing, the two performers that Lonesome, Onry and Mean would most like to see are women: Miranda Lambert and young Nashville phenom Michelle Branch.

KILT might want to consider a name change for the annual program, which is this coming Wednesday at Verizon Wireless Theater. But what the hell - KILT deals in mainstream country, so gender issues and feminine equality don't really figure into the equation.

Other than Lambert, local heroes Jack Ingram and Clay Walker, and Texas-via-Nashville songwriting vet Radney Foster, the lineup reads like Lonesome, Onry and Mean's worst nightmare of utter mainstream country/Texas-Music shite: the worst is the faux-redneck contingent of Kevin Fowler and Jason Aldean, along with terminally banal Texas music poster child Pat Green.

Then there's syrupy country music clone Rodney Atkins, whose song "It's America" is just as dumb and Wal-Mart market-oriented as Austin Cunningham's "Guns and Religion."

Along with host Trace Adkins, the big gun is Nashville hot shot John Rich, he of the Music Mafia team Big & Rich who recently had assault charges against him dismissed by a Nashville court.

LOM doesn't know whether to sigh or yawn.

See KILT's Web site for more details on acquiring tickets to the Ten Man Jam. We couldn't care less.
