Information on Tomorrow's Lee Powers Benefit Featuring Devin the Dude and Lots More

Tomorrow afternoon, the friends of late Free Press Houston staff member Lee Powers will be holding a benefit for his family to cover their bills. The event is sure to bring in plenty of money, and every bit of the proceeds will be going directly to the Powers family. A bike ride is the first event on the agenda. Starting at 2:30 p.m., the course of the trek will go from the Hazard St. bridge where Powers lost his life all the way to the Silo (4601 Clinton), where a raffle and concert will be held. Admission for the concert is only $5, and for the amount of entertainment that is quite a steal.

Local artists and photographers like Shelby Hohl and Houston Press photographer Mark C. Austin have donated work for the raffle, with Austin submitting a few of the live shots he has taken over the past few years at festivals and concerts. Hohl designed the poster for the benefit and lived with Powers for the last year or so. Local shops Soundwaves and Houston Fixed Gear are also contributing bicycle and skateboard gear for the raffle.

On the music end, expect to see Devin The Dude, Rob Quest and Grandfather Child, among others, take the stage in honor of Powers. Just a few months back, Powers interviewed Devin The Dude before his September concert at Warehouse Live. Here's the video from the shoot:

After the concert and raffle at the Silo, an art show will be held over at the FPH Warehouse (3412 Yupon) with work from Funwunce's Tim Dorsey showcased. Rapper Fat Tony, a close friend of Powers, will perform at the art show.
