ACL 2009 Day Two: !!! & Neon Indian Before The Rain
Denton-area band Neon Indian came in at the last minute to cover for the absent Danish garage-gloomers The Raveonettes. We really dug these kids, which includes members of Ghosthustler and and VEGA. They only played for about forty minutes but it only took the first half for us to draw comparisons to Giorgio Moroder and even the band Suicide.

After Neon Indian, we walked a hundred yards away to see !!! who drew a younger crowd than we expected for a band who saw their biggest popularity back in 2002. We have always been a fan of their dance-funk jams, but the crowd wasn't nearly receptive as the lusty audience they played for last night at Emo's. As they ramped up their set the rain began to set in, and that is how they say, when things started to get real.
