You know I was always envious of your musical abilities. You were always the guy I loved to tell people I knew. The guy who I lived my creative dreams vicariously through. From the pop punk song about a plastic bath toy, to the most over produced bombastic modern x-tian rock, to the most amazing Roky-Reed-Dylan inspired songs and Meddle era Pink Floyd guitar pyrotechnics your unquestionable honesty and genius always shined through; however, even more than your musical abilities I was a fan of your kindness, grace and humility.
I remember you always being late for work, but you did it such an endearing way no one even noticed....not even the manager. Getting off work and loading your bike into my truck and going over to my place to drink cheap beer and listen to the most fucked up copy of Big Brother & the Holding Company ever seen, and justifying it by talking about how it sounded more authentic with all the snaps and crackles. I remember trying for months to get you into the more finer pieces of industrial music...but you were right...just wasn't your style. You needed a live drummer.
I will forever cherish my last memory of being locked in a bathroom at the Francisco Lofts after a few too many free drinks and watching through the haze of inebriation as you belted out "Why Don't We Do It In the Road?" and not even daring to chime in....because hell...you look just like George Harrison...and oh yeah the copy of Trout Mask Replica you got me for Christmas.
You were a great person, a great artist and a great friend. You will forever be missed.

Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself 'neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum
Most bands don't knock me out the first time I see them. That was not the case with Midnight Pilots. They blew me away. I thought "who is this and how come I've never seen them before?!" They were vibrant and soulful and mixed a lot of influences instead of sounding just like one or two other bands. My thoughts are with all who are close to Dave.
Posted On: Friday, Jun. 19 2009 @ 1:21PMI haven't been able to stop thinking about Dave's song "Do You Believe In Love". The world lost an incredible talent much too soon.
Posted On: Friday, Jun. 19 2009 @ 2:20PMDave, I'm sorry I missed getting to know you better. I got to know all your brothers and sister. I guess we will catch up with each other on the other side. See you soon.

"Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes" (Revelation 7:16–17)
I will miss you Dave. I will be looking for you in Heaven later. I am looking forward to when we sing praises together to our saviour and king. Thanks for sharing your life and your music with us Dave. I love you man.
your bro in Christ,

RIP Dave Rask - A True Warrior and Man of God
Psalm 116:15
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
Dave was a brother to me.
Dave & I used to spend countless hours praying, worshiping, reading scripture, fighting the darkness, and talking to God together.
He loved Jesus more than anything else on this planet. His every breath and thought was on his Savior.
Dave was the most kind-hearted, loving and genuine friend I have ever known.
He was a best-friend to everyone with a talent for capturing the essence of God in music and art.
Such kind eyes and a beautiful smile.
Dave we miss you..............................
P. S. Have fun with Jesus.
David, I always thought you were like THE coolest musician to ever walk this earth. you were just dripping with talent.. i have always cherished your song "do you believe in love?"... my favorite.
loved selling your salt 7, pilots, and midnight pilots merch at "union" shows or fusefest.
keep strumming those beautiful chords that only you can turn into pieces of art.
see you later man,
Brenda
I remember when me and my brother and sister had to take you and your brother home every wednesday night for spectrum youth service. It did get annoying but it gave me an excuse to come home late. I will miss all the crazy ideas you always had and all the times "Salt 7" led worship service and you guys put on an amazing performance. Not to mention all the unbelievable skills you had when someone put a guitar in your hands. I'm sure my brother still thinks about the day they gave you a car for your birthday. We will miss you. You are a great friend and a brother in my God given family. I will never forget you dave. Say hi to Jesus for me.

Posted On: Friday, Jun. 19 2009 @ 11:21PMGlad to hear Dave made a commitment to Jesus Christ at one time. John 14:2 says "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you." Though this brings comfort, please look at the pain caused by this tragic event and examine your own life to see if it is off track. Don't hesitate to reach out for help!
Posted On: Friday, Jun. 19 2009 @ 11:37PMYou will be missed Dave! We did not know each other well but you made me feel welcome at Grace when I was a new comer and were always soooooo sweet!

Posted On: Sunday, Jun. 21 2009 @ 6:31AMDave,
I remember you as a little 2 year old boy with red curly hair singing with your Mom on stage at Clear Lake Bible Church. That was 25 years ago now. It's hard to think you are gone but it's amazing to think you are with Jesus singing with the angels. We will always remember what you gave us while you were on earth - your music. My deepest sympathies to the Rask family.
Love,
Joy Rollins (Rodgers family)
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 22 2009 @ 2:17PMI put that Dave was 2, but he was 6 years old. Sorry about that.
Posted On: Monday, Jun. 22 2009 @ 2:34PMDave and his little brother, Steven, with his curly red hair were so cute at CLBC. I always got you guys mixed. Don't ask me how but you were so sweet and I will never forget you. I will always remember your love for Jesus and for music. Rest in peace & rock away in heaven.

Posted On: Monday, Jun. 22 2009 @ 7:16PMDave was a wonderfully talented and sweet guy, and I know that this tragedy has not separated him from his Saviour and Father. My prayers are with his family and all of his friends.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
