Willie D, member of Houston rap pioneers the Geto Boys and CEO of Relentless Entertainment, was arrested by FBI agents Wednesday night at George Bush International Airport as he returned from an overseas trip. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office, D, whose real name is William Dennis, has been charged with wire fraud in connection with a scheme to sell electronics over the Internet.

The arrest warrant alleges Dennis, acting through a company called Texas One Wireless, arranged to sell Apple iPhones and other electronics to overseas buyers over the Internet. Once these buyers had electronically transferred money into his account, it says, Dennis would send them tracking numbers for packages that were never shipped and eventually cease communication altogether.

The maximum penalty for wire fraud is 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. Dennis is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in downtown Houston later today. More details are available here.
