Update: No Line did indeed debut at No. 1, selling 484,000 copies.

U2 has sent out the equivalent of a "Save the Date" card. Today the Irish rockers, whose new album No Line on the Horizon opened to mixed reviews but debuted at No. 1 in most of Europe (UK, France, Germany, Czech Republic), Japan and - probably - the U.S., announced the first round of dates for their upcoming U2 360 stadium tour, where the band will perform in the round under a nifty high-tech canopy that looks like something out of Battlestar Galactica. Check it out here.

The tour, sponsored by BlackBerry, opens June 30 in Barcelona, Spain, proceeding to Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Poland, Croatia and four dates in various UK cities. The band and its partner Live Nation Global Touring have only annouced four North American dates so far - Chicago, September 12; Toronto, September 16; Boston, September 20; and New York, September 24. Sometime after that, the band will visit Houston, Dallas and Norman, Okla., as part of the 11 other North American cities rounding out this 360 tour.

According to U2's manager Paul McGuinness, general-admission floor tickets will be $55, and at least 10,000 $30 tickets will be put on sale for every show.
