Turning the Screw: B L A C K I E, Dizzee Rascal, X-Clan & Bun B, Eminem, Pitbull, T.I., Common, Snoop Dogg and More

Welcome back to Turning the Screw, Rocks Off's weekly rap post. It probably won't rhyme, at least most of the time. E-mail tips to introducingliston@gmail.com. Thanks, homies.

Single of the Week: B L A C K I E, "I Write On Money"

Wire To Wire

Dizzee Rascal was released from custody following a road rage incident. The report says that Dizzee was in possession of "an offensive weapon." That's an odd phrase to use, "offensive weapon." Perhaps the baseball bat he was carrying was shouting a bunch of obscenities? (By the way, we weren't able to dig up a download, but last year's GRIT Boys album had a great song on it featuring Dizzee Rascal. Buy the album here.)

Persia, of VH1's White Rapper Show, looks like she's on the right track to becoming a famous rapper: facing prison time for carrying an illegal handgun. No word on whether or not it was offensive.

X-Clan is releasing a new album that will feature Houston's favorite son Bun B. This is great news, obviously, and probably has something to do with us interviewing both of them.

eminem-bum-gal-mtv.jpgEminem (right), talking about his forthcoming album, appears to be hinting that he has a bit of a man-crush on Dr. Dre. To wit: "I don't have chemistry like that with anyone else as far as producers go, not even close," said Em. "I just want to kiss him right on his mouth," he added.

Pitbull is donating $5,000 to a children's charity. Yes, you read that correctly, $5,000. From a guy who has sold more than a million albums. Maybe he's still a bit miffed that someone threw a bottle at his head in San Antonio. But really, if you ever perform at venue that has the word "Planeta" in the title, you can pretty much expect that to be status quo.

T.I., facing a year-long stint in the pokey, is already plotting his comeback: "Presumably, while I'm there, I'll be able to strategize my comeback. All those days will be spent speaking to people who are interested in being in the T.I. business. Preparing myself for the days those doors open, when I put my feet back on the ground of the free world."

Read: "I'm flippin' scared out of my skull and am totally going to cry the first night I'm in there like the fat guy from Shawshank Redemption."

Akon was on E!'s Chelsea Lately. That's pretty much a joke in and of itself.

Andre 3000, one of the more creative cats out there, is being sued for $2 million for allegedly stealing an idea. From a postman. Because that's normal.

We don't know about you, but we get all of our Will.I.Am/U2 news straight from the most reliable of sources: The Kanye.

common lp.jpgCommon's new album is rated a 10 out of 10 by, er, Common. But it wasn't so well received by others.

Snoop Dogg's "Sensual Seduction" was nominated for the Outstanding Rap Song Grammy, and we're not entirely displeased with that. The video was outstanding too.

The long acknowledged Lil' Wayne documentary finally has a release date. Yeah, we're going to watch, but we're going to resent every minute of it.
