This Just In: Butthole Surfers Moved to Meridian

Well, that didn't take long. Over the weekend, Rocks Off learned the Butthole Surfers show we reported last week as happening at Fitzgerald's Thursday, October 23, has now been moved to Meridian. Same day, though. The reason we were given is that, in typically vague music-biz jargon, there was a "misunderstanding" between the band, its management and the venues, which pretty much means it comes down to money.

Capacity-wise, Meridian is more in line with the other venues the reunited Texas psych-punk legends - whose lineup of Gibby Haynes, Paul Leary, Jeff Pinkus, King Coffy and Teresa Taylor is touring together for the first time since 1989 -are playing on this Texas leg: Austin's Stubb's (for a September 27 Austin City Limits festival afterparty) and Dallas' Granada Theater October 22. Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, available at the club's Web site starting Thursday. Even with the increased capacity, considering the Surfers haven't toured since 2002 (when they did play Fitz's in an absolute steambath of a show), Rocks Off will be very surprised if the show doesn't sell out. - Chris Gray
