Tonight: Old Farts Early Show at the Mink

Categories: Playbill

If it’s too late, you’re too old. Luckily the Mink, Ben Murphy and adr understand. The trio behind such rockin’ parties as the Hootenanny and Twotenanny are putting together the Old Farts Show, a monthly series (hopefully) featuring local bands at a geezer-friendly hour.

“Houston is known for many things, especially bands needing to lug their gear up a flight of stairs and being forced to play late in the [weeknight], when far too many folks must take a pass due to having work or school the next morning,” says the Skyline Network’s adr.

Wednesday marks the first Old Farts installment, with power-punks Something Fierce and nerdy rockers The Mathletes. The show starts at 8 p.m., and adr swears it will be over by 10, so music fans don’t have to worry about missing tomorrow’s alarm clock.

“While the bands may still need to lug their amps and drums and electric pianos up a flight of stairs before they play, at least more people will be there,” says adr.

As an added bonus, the Mink is conveniently located next to our favorite Tex-Mex shack, Tacos A Go-Go. You'll definitely have some extra cash for a $3 taco, because the show is absolutely free. Or was that not clear from the flyer? - Dusti Rhodes
