New Video for Pale's "Glowing Black"

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 11:48:45 AM

Here’s a new video for the song “Glowing Black” from local rockers Pale. The Edge-like chime of the guitars, Stephen Morris-esque high-hat hiss and four-on-the-floor kick-drum beat and cinematography are all very 1985, but that seems to be the hip retro year right now.

It’s a pretty catchy little song, with a Muse-y little bridge and some fine thump from the bass player, but I think videos should have more of a concept than “here’s the band filtered through some mildly trippy camera effects.” – John Nova Lomax

Lead singer reminds me of Bono. All the more appropriate for the '80s video vibe.

You're right about the Muse-y bridge. It sounds like the riff from "Map of the Problematique" transposed to a different key. How original.

Hmmm. Let's consider the "Muse-y bridge". I happen to have seen this band play this song live in 2003. What year did "Map of the Problematique" come out in......2006? With that being said I like the minimalistic approach to the video and feel the music speaks for itself. Welcome back "1985".

The song Glowing Black has been played live by Pale not only before "Black Holes and Revelations" came out but also before "Absolution" was on the shelves. This band is one of the most original bands around. They go beyond the jam band or acoustic sounds that you hear at almost every bar you walk into.

I am impressed with the Glowing Black video. Pale has come a long way. I am impressed with the work that this unsigned local band has done with putting together such a professional video.

Great song, great video, great band.
