This Just In: Kashmere Stage Band Update
You’ll get a lot of music for that $125, though: starting at 8 p.m., the Conrad O. Johnson Jazz Heritage Orchestra, vocalist Joan Hubert, jazz guitarist Joe Carmouche and his band, the Codwell Elementary string ensemble, HSPVA jazz ensemble and the KSB will all perform. The Johnson Foundation, founded in 1997 and named after the longtime KHS band director, funds music and fine arts scholarships for deserving Houston-area students to help them further their musical education.
Both KSB concerts will be filmed for an upcoming documentary on Johnson, now 92, by L.A. filmmaker Mark Landsman. Tickets for Saturday are only available by calling Charles Wilson (not the congressman) at 832-725-3922. – Chris Gray
