This guy can definitely pay the bills, bills, bills.

Mathew Knowles, sire of singing sisters Beyonce and Solange Knowles and impresario of Houston’s Music World Entertainment, has been selected by the Greater Houston Partnership and Kiwanis Club of Houston as the 2007 recipient of the International Executive of the Year Award, presented Wednesday at downtown’s tony Houston Club. The award, a joint effort of the City of Houston, Harris County, Port of Houston Authority, the U.S. Department of Commerce and VBC Broadcasting (whew), recognizes an “outstanding businessperson who has demonstrated the global leadership that continues to make Houston a center of international business.” Previous honorees include former Bush 41 Commerce Secretary Robert A. Mosbacher, former Continental Airlines CEO Frank Lorenzo and last year’s winner, Shell Oil president John Hofmeister.

Headquartered just south of the Pierce Elevated, with branches in New York, Los Angeles and London, Music World Entertainment controls its eponymous pop/R&B record label as well as the Spirit Rising (gospel) and Compadre (country) imprints. Music World has sold over 100 million albums, including the Destiny’s Child catalog, its members’ solo albums and the Dreamgirls and Roll Bounce sound tracks; it will introduce a catalog division, featuring albums by Chaka Khan and the O’Jays, soon.
