You Should’ve Been There: The Fatal Flying Guilloteens, The Dimes and L.A.W.S. at Walter’s on Washington
With that said, last night The Fatal Flying Guilloteens played their first show with new guitarist Erik Bogle, from Bring Back the Guns, and I have to say he rose to the challenge. And though nobody can top McManus’s charm and good looks (oh, um, I mean guitar skills), Bogle certainly didn’t stop the party that is a Guilloteens show. If you’ve been to a Guilloteens show, then you know what I’m talking about, and if you haven’t, I’ll just let the photos and video do the rest of the talking …

Starting the night out were The Dimes, who matched the energy of the Guilloteens and once again surprised a lot of concertgoers who had never seen them before. I think The Dimes should call their next album How Old Are These Guys?. Because I have yet to see a performance where somebody doesn’t come up and ask me that. Just a testament to their talent, I guess.
Opening up the night were hardcore rockers L.A.W.S. Every song started out with lead singer Will Boone shouting “Bring me the head of [insert name of famous musician (i.e. Neil Diamond) here],” which surprisingly drew laughs from the audience, including myself, every time. The music was good and Boone was pretty funny, but his vocals were about as annoying as his audience antics later that evening (read: spitting beer on the Guilloteens every five seconds). Sorry, Will – but hey, practice makes perfect. -- Dusti Rhodes
