Cops Search for Clues After Decomposed Body Pulled From Sims Bayou

Another body in the bayou.
Just last week we told you about Tim Miller and his organization finding more than 100 cars at the bottom Sims and Braes bayous. As if to punctuate his point about potentially finding bodies inside some of those vehicles, the badly decomposed corpse of a man was found Sunday afternoon in Sims Bayou, according to reports.

An autopsy is expected today, but initial reports said the unidentified body, found by a passerby, was that of a Hispanic man in late 20s to early 30s.

Investigators Are Looking Into Details of Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting

Houston police are saying that the man who one of their officers allegedly shot dead Monday afternoon pointed a gun at the officer just after the suspect was attempting to jump a wooden fence to escape.

The shooting by the 7-year HPD veteran is under investigation.

The incident began Monday afternoon when police got a call about a group of men trying to use counterfeit bills, according to reports. Police said they were told one of the suspects riding inside a silver Chevrolet Cobalt with two other people was armed.

Police Investigating Death at Fortune Cookie Company

A body was found in a dough mixer at a Houston factory. It may have looked like this.
There's still no word on the identity of a 26-year-old man who may have met his doom inside of a dough mixing machine.

Sunday afternoon, Houston police responded to a call of a dead body found inside of an industrial mixer at the Houston branch of the Wonton Food company. They're the leading makers of those fortune cookies you get at Asian food places. Wonton, which has a huge factory in New York and others around the country, is actually known as one of the leading providers of fortune cookies around the world. It also makes other Asian food under the Golden Bowl brand.

We're still waiting for the the Harris County forensics lab to verity the man's identity.

HPD Review Video of Suspect in Pregnant Woman Slaying at Strip Club

A pregnant woman was killed by robbers while working her cleaning job at the Eclipse Gentlemen's in Houston, police say. Maria Lucrecia, 27, was pronounced dead at the notorious club on South Gessner Road around 5:25 p.m. on Saturday.

To make matters utterly worse (like they could be really be any worse at this point), the Houston Chronicle reports that Lucrecia's body was found by her family.

Police believe the attacker took Lucrecia, who was five months pregnant, into the lobby, where he beat and strangled her. She was found there by her husband and the couple's 5-year-old son.

Houston Police homicide detectives reviewed a surveillance video that was released yesterday. They're still looking for the POS who did this.

Francisco "Frankie" Vela, 22, Shot August 11, Bayou Body Count No. 207

Francisco "Frankie" Vela, 22, was shot to death at Norma's Plaza Apartments at 7526 Martin Luther King Blvd. on August 11, and police are struggling to find suspects. We were unaware of the shooting at the time, but have since been alerted by the victim's mother-in-law.

Witnesses heard two gunshots at the apartment complex at the above address. Patrol officers and HFD paramedics arrived and were directed to the area where the victim was found outside an apartment, according to a release.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and/or charging of any suspect in the case. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Unidentified Male, 28, Shot in Gas Station Parking Lot: Bayou Body Count No. 206

A 28-year-old man is dead after he was shot by unknown assailants in the parking lot of a gas station in the 7400 block of Long Point near Woodvine in Spring Branch according to a report from the Houston Police Department.

The report stated that the unknown man pulled into the parking lot at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning where he got out and began a conversation with a woman. Two men approached with pistols and shot him as he tried to drive away. There were no details immediately available on how many shots were fired and there was no description of the suspects except they were to believed to be driving a dark colored crew cab pickup.

Mitchell Deon Tucker, 20, Shot While Allegedly Attempting Armed Robbery: Bayou Body Count No. 205

When attempting to rob someone, it is probably a good idea to make sure the person you are robbing isn't packing heat. In this case, the victim became the shooter.

At about 10 p.m. Tuesday night, at the Vanderbilt Apartments (126690 Medfield) on Houston's west side, Mitchell Deon Tucker, 20, was shot to death allegedly attempting to rob a pair of would-be victims in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The two men, residents of the complex, were standing in the parking lot when they were approached by Tucker and two accomplices armed with pistols who demanded wallets, cell phones and keys.

Lucion Barrett, 26, Shot; Suspect Azell Keith Thrasher in Custody: Bayou Body Count No. 204

Azell Keith Thrasher, Jr., 25 (pictured), has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Lucion Barrett, 26, of Needville. On Sunday, according to police, Barrett got in an argument inside the Sunnyside Sports Bar at 9677 Plainfield. He and the suspect were thrown out of the bar and continued to argue in the parking lot.

As the fight escalated, the suspect drew a gun and fired several shots hitting both Barrett and a second unidentified man, who is expected to recover. Barrett died at the hospital.

An investigation by HPD led to Thrasher being identified as the suspect in the case. He was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with murder.

Baby Boy, 15 Months, Dies in Incident Under Investigation: Bayou Body Count No. 203

Houston Police are investigating the death of a baby boy following an incident at 850 Harvest Time Lane in the Greenspoint area Thursday, November 15. The victim, 15 months old, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Friday after suffering head trauma and being admitted Thursday night.

Police say the baby spent Thursday in the care of a babysitter in an apartment at the Charleston at CityView Apartments. Results of an autopsy are pending and the investigation is continuing according to the HPD Homicide Division.

Unidentified Driver, 34, Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver: Bayou Body Count No. 201

The holidays are an especially dangerous time to be on the road. Hundreds of people are killed every year over the holidays on the roadways and many of the deaths are the result of drunk drivers. Unfortunately for a 34-year-old woman, it appears she may be added to the statistics.

The Houston Police Department announced that Jennifer Nicole Molina, 21, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and accident involving injury or death. According to HPD, Molina was driving a blue Nissan Versa on the feeder road near 10100 North Freeway after 3 a.m. on Sunday, November 18, when she rear-ended a green Honda Civic before fleeing the scene and ultimately crashing through a fence before coming to stop in a parking lot. A family member convinced her to return to the scene about an hour later where she was arrested.

The driver of the Civic was forced into a concrete pillar. She was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
