The Texas Drought (After All This Rain) Is Still a Thing

The drought, it's still a thing.
It seems like there's been a lot more rain lately, but don't let all that moisture from the sky fool you. Houston is doing better, but a chunk of Texas is still in a condition that is commonly known as drought.

Gov. Rick Perry, as he is wont to do, even issued an emergency proclamation on the whole thing:

I, Rick Perry, Governor of the State of Texas, issued an Emergency Disaster Proclamation on July 5, 2011, certifying that exceptional drought conditions posed a threat of imminent disaster in specified counties in Texas.

Yep, he uses the phrase "imminent disaster" and everything. While Harris County isn't on the list of counties Perry is worried about, there are plenty of other counties on the list, and it wasn't too long ago that Houston, constantly moist as it is, was in on this whole drought thing as well. Keep that in mind when you're watering plants and lawns and stuff for six hours a day.
