Finally, you can whip out your soccer flags for the summer.
It seems like almost yesterday we were right there coming down with soccer fever like the rest of the world. But then we remembered, that was four years ago. Man, time flies, doesn't it? And now we're back. The anticipation was killing us anyway.

Check out: The Best Spots to Watch the World Cup (And Toast to Every Goal) in Houston

For all intents and purposes, this is World Cup week, that means people will be ducking out of work early starting tomorrow, to head to their favorite bar to catch a game, you'll see lots of colorful t-shirts, and you'll hear horns blaring down the street when certain countries win their matches. Oh, and there'll be lots of yelling "goooaaaalll". Or our favorite, "goalasoooo".

Anyway, we're here. As far as local World Cup fandom, we were surprised, not surprised to read about Houston's attraction to the game. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle the city ranked third in combined English/Spanish viewership of the last World Cup. That means the audience watching it during the English broadcast mixed with those tuning in for the Spanish-language broadcast rocketed rating up, putting us behind L.A. and Miami. And this year, Spanish language stations will devote about as much time to the U.S. team, as they do the the usual cadre of teams from Mexico and South America.

And if you're one of those people who don't care, or come late to the World Cup party, the Chronicle gives this quick break down of what's airing. Most games will begin at 11 a.m., 2p.m. and 5 p.m.

In Houston, English-language games will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and KTRK (Channel 13), which will air 10 games, including the championship match July 13. Spanish-language games will air on Univision's KXLN (Channel 45) and KFTH (Channel 67) and the Univision Deportes sports channel, which is available on most programming services except Comcast cable.
