The body of a nine-year-old girl was kept in a refrigerator for six months, according to reports.
Residents of the Happy Home Apartments in the 10100 block of Club Creek Drive were concerned about not having seen the girl in months, according to a Houston Police Department press release. A neighbor entered the apartment the girl was believed to live in, where, according to the press release, he found Ayahna Comb wrapped in blankets in the kitchen, and called paramedics around 6 p.m. Monday, according to the press release.
The Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday that a Child Protective Services investigator said the girl had been dead since January and was kept in the drawer of a refrigerator.
According to the Chronicle, the mother, Amber Keyes, told the investigator she woke up early one January morning and found Comb not breathing. After trying to revive the child, she stopped around 6 a.m. to take her other daughter to school, according to the Chronicle.
HPD spokesman Victor Senties told Hair Balls the case was still under investigation, and no charges had been filed. Senties said police have interviewed Keyes, and "she is being fully cooperative."
