Dr. Angelou, you were one hell of a woman.

The Houston Astros will play in Major League Baseball's annual Civil Rights Game Friday, honoring Dr. Maya Angelou in the process.

Angelou, who passed away Wednesday, was scheduled to receive the 2014 Beacon of Life award. She was 86.

"Today we have lost one of our greatest voices, but Dr. Angelou's words will live on and will continue to inspire generations to come," hall of famer Frank Robinson said in a press release. "With a heavy heart, the National Pastime will honor Dr. Angelou at this weekend's Civil Rights Game in a manner befitting her remarkable legacy."

MLB announced five days ago that Angelou would be unable to attend because of health reasons.

Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America, will be the keynote speaker at the Beacon Awards. She will accept the award on Angelou's behalf, MLB announced. NFL hall of famer Jim Brown and Motown record label founder Berry Gordy will also receive awards.

The Civil Rights Game is a regular season game that MLB has had since 2007. Friday will be the first time the Astros play in the game. They'll face the Baltimore Orioles.

Reid Ryan, the Astros' president of business operations, expressed the franchise's feelings.

"We send our heartfelt condolences to her many friends, family members and to her millions of admirers," Ryan said in a statement following the announcement of Angelou's death. "Although she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on. We look forward to honoring Dr. Angelou this week."

her spirit will be in hell.....she was a jew hating anti semite

Angelou was an activist in trying to get cop-killing Muslim Mumia Abu-Jamal released from prison. And she wanted her many idiotic fans to know–on the 11th anniversary of 9/11–that Islam had nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorists. Gee, and you wonder why Muslims and other America-haters/Jew-haters loved her so much.

funny bio of racist hooker madam anti american anti semite maya  Maya Angelou & Oprah: Two Blots on America Laughin’ All the Way to the Bank

I was one of the lucky American kids who was never forced to read this Friend of Oprah cretin’s god-awful “writing,” the most overrated dreck on paper. Sadly, high school and collegestudents all over America are forced to wade through her written bath of dung because it’s chic among the brainless radicals who dominate American education at all levels. It’s absolutely unreadable. The ugly empress–inside and out–definitely wore no clothing. And you probably don’t know this: the overrated, talentless hack, Angelou, was a madam and a prostitute, and an America-hater who left the country to go live in Africa and didn’t intend to return. But she came back, according to the book, “Maya Angelou” by Vicki Cox and Miles Shapiro, only because her good friend, Malcolm X, implored her to return to America, so she could help him attack U.S. racism in the United Nations and help him build the Nation of Islam, which he claimed was the civil rights movement.

FWhy do liberals honor deviant behavior like that of Maya Angelou, who admitted being a prostitute and madam?  Maya Angelou Gushes Over US-Flag-Burning Palestinian Terrorist Rachel Corrie – BARF! **** Occupy Movement Cites Maya Angelou’s Anti-Semitic Poems, Rants **** Maya Angelou’s Students: “Worst Professor EVER! Once again, Billy Joel’s lyrics–”Only the Good Die Young”–are proven true, as Marguerite Ann Johnson a/k/a “Maya Angelou” dies at age 86. Angelou was America’s most overrated crappy writer, all because she was Black . . . and a far-leftist. Angelou was a racist, America-hater, Jew-hater, anti-Israel, a close friend of Malcolm X, and a strong supporter of Cuba’s Fidel Castro. No, she actually hadn’t a clue why the caged bird sings since she supported the caging and the cagers all the way to her grave.
