Update: Richie Incognito Smashes Up His Own Ferrari With a Baseball Bat
Less than 24 hours after I spent about a thousand words telling you how stupid all of you are for thinking that NFL players won't get a second, third, or tenth chance, so long as they can still play, we get another Richie Incognito episode.
Screen grab from paid4sure Incognito told police he smashed his own car.
I mean, the number of current players I've heard take up for Incognito has far exceeded the ones I've heard speak out against him, so if a team is desperate enough to shore up the interior of their offensive line and Incognito can still play? Why not, right?
That's what I thought, at least.
Well, dammit, Incognito's certainly not making it easy on himself (or my theory).
Yesterday, a story broke on TMZ.com (where else, right?) that Incognito's Ferrari, a $300,000 ride, had been smashed with a baseball bat on the front lawn of his Scottsdale home:
Sources tell TMZ Sports ... Richie's neighbors first noticed the car had been attacked on Wednesday afternoon.
You can see a baseball bat lying in front of the car ... with a piece of the bat stuck in the grill. There are also red shirts hanging from the car -- we're told they have Incognito's name written on them.
It appears to be the very same Ferrari that Incognito had delivered to his Miami home back in November -- right in the middle of the fallout from the Jonathan Martin situation.
So far it's unclear who smashed the car ... or why. Also, unclear if Richie was home at the time of the attack.
We called the Scottsdale PD for more info -- so far, no word back.
That was yesterday. At the time, it just looked like the culprit was someone who a) had a bunch of extra red T-shirts to throw away and b) hated Richie Incognito, which narrows it down to pretty much everybody in the free world.
Then this morning came this story, again courtesy of TMZ.com:
Richie Incognito SMASHED HIS OWN FERRARI with a baseball bat ... at least, that's what he told police this morning ... TMZ Sports has learned.
We broke the story ... neighbor's noticed someone had taken a bat to the front of Richie's black Ferrari in front of his home in AZ yesterday.
Now, the Scottsdale Police Department tells us ... they spoke with Richie early this morning and he admitted he took the bat to his own car.
Clearly, Incognito was pissed about something ... but we don't know what set him off.
We reached out to Richie's people for comment -- so far, no word back.
Here's the video taken by TMZ of the car sitting in the middle of Richie's front lawn, covered in T-shirts with part of the bat still wedged in the grill:
