Police want to find the owner of these dogs, who we're sure is a perfectly reasonable guy.
Houston police are seeking one of two dogs that appear to have killed a woman in southeast Houston Sunday morning.

Two witnesses were also injured when they tried to help the woman, whose identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to a Houston Police Department press release. She died at the scene, in the 7600 block of Glen Prairie.

Witnesses told the Chron the dogs were pit bulls, but the HPD release does not identify the breeds.

Harris County Animal Control officers caught one of the dogs -- now in quarantine -- shortly after the attack.

"One of the surviving victims told police they were attacked by two dogs running loose in the neighborhood," according to the press release.

According to the Chron, "the animal in custody lives in a nearby apartment complex and has a biting history, neighbors said."

Police are seeking the other dog, as well as the dogs' owner. Anyone with information in this case is urged to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

My Voice Nation Help

This a very unfortunate incident but needless to say, it's happening more often than ever. I was really impressed to see the new councilman for the area , Robert Gallegos, at the scene canvassing the neighbors early Sunday morning. This public servant mentality was something that was lacking from the former councilman Rodriguez.

It is my opinion that due to the powerful pro-animal rescue groups in town that days of the dog catcher picking up strays are long gone. Therefore, its not just the muggers on the streets to be aware of, but the pack of deadly  stray dogs now, ugh!
