Weekend Weather: Perhaps Some Strong Storms on the Way

After some rather bizarre weather over the past few weeks, it appears to be leveling off as Houston experiences some rather normal weather for this time of year. It may be a tad warm today with highs in the 70s, but that's not particularly abnormal for us during the holidays. We should see partly to mostly cloudy conditions today and tomorrow ahead of an approaching cold front.

That's when things will change. Some forecasts are suggesting we could get strong thunderstorms along the frontal boundary as it moves through Saturday night. Most of that should remain to our north, but heavy rain and high winds are certainly a possibility. By Sunday, things begin to really cool down again and we return to highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

There is no longer a chance of a Christmas deep freeze in Houston. Instead, it appears we'll have highs in the lower 60s with sunny to partly cloudy skies. While other parts of the country are dealing with freezing temperatures and slogging through the slush, we'll be wearing T-shirts and enjoying some pleasant patio weather. Suck on that, yankees!
