Cool, man.
Since last week when we had quite a few days of warm weather, it has been right back into the deep freeze. While it didn't get quite as cold as some forecasters thought it might, it did remain in the 50s all week and little will change this weekend.

Today, as a front pushes through the area, expect some light rain and generally cloudy conditions. There won't be much accumulation and most of the precipitation will remain north of the city.

By early Saturday, the clouds should clear and both Saturday and Sunday should be beautiful with highs in the mid to lower 50s and lows in the mid and lower 30s. Expect a mild freeze for areas north and west of the city overnight Sunday, but most areas close to town will remain above the freezing mark.

Looking ahead to next week, there will be a gradual warming trend with humidity returning and temperatures warming perhaps even into the low 70s by the end of the week ahead of another front.

As for the long-range forecast, KHOU is reporting at least one model is suggesting a blast of cold air could hit Houston right at Christmas, dropping temperatures into the lower 20s and perhaps even the teens. For the moment, that is only one long-range model, so you probably don't need to break out the pipe warmers just yet, but stay tuned.
