Ted Cruz Calls Hecklers 'Obama's Paid Political Operatives'

Don't heckle this man.
Sen. Ted Cruz really is the gift that keeps on giving. If he was an animal he'd definitely be the goose that laid golden eggs, only the good stuff comes out the other end. Current case in point: The Values Voter Summit on Friday.

Cruz was addressing a packed crowd full of adoring fans -- either of his political antics or maybe just his love of Dr. Seuss, who knows -- when some protestors/hecklers started disrupting things. This being an event geared for people already a little in love with Cruz -- the Texas senator who has made himself such a political pain in the ass that sections of his own party can't stand him -- the crowd simply out-cheered the people.

They chanted "U-S-A. U-S-A" over and over again, complete with clapping, until the flurry of off-camera discontent died down. Cruz, who doesn't go for the podium-leaning style of address, paced back and forth across the stage so he was constantly walking off-camera during broadcasts from CNN and Fox News. Whenever the camera zipped back onto the guy, he smiled out at the crowd, laughing off the presence of what he declared were "Obama's paid political operatives."

Cruz gave a speech berating Obamacare, but he was interrupted at least seven times throughout the address, according to Politico. Cruz dismissed the protestors as a part of a sinister silencing plot, quoting The Usual Suspects. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was to convince the world he doesn't exist, according to the movie, but Cruz told the audience the media has pulled off an even better prank by convincing them they can't win.

"Is anybody left at the Organizing for America Headquarters?" he asked. "I'm actually glad the president's whole political staff is here instead of doing mischief in the country."

Cruz wrapped up a relatively quick speech -- of course everything is brief compared to his not-quite-a-filibuster a few weeks back -- before a scheduled meeting at the White House on Friday afternoon. Hopefully all those deployed political operatives managed to get back to home base to greet him when he arrived. But you never know, they might have been busy making all that mischief. It's hard work being a political operative these days.
