Let's show these dudes a good time....
Nearly 9,000 veterans will attend the American Legion's 95th national convention in Houston August 23, according to the nation's largest organization of wartime vets.

A press release states that "blue-capped Legionnaires will be seen primarily in the downtown area where they will be housed in a number of hotels consuming 17,000 room nights as they meet in business sessions at the George R. Brown Convention center."

The convention is expected to pump $15-$20 million into the local economy, according to the press release.

"We are delighted to be back in the great city of Houston," Chairman of the American Legion National Convention Commission Michael Walter stated in the release. "This is the third time we have convened in Houston. Legionnaires truly enjoy the outstanding hospitality extended by everyone in this beautiful city."

The release also states that "The American Legion is also co-sponsoring a job fair with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 27 at the George Brown Convention Center downtown. The Hiring Our Heroes Transition & Benefits Job Fair is open to veterans, active-duty military, National Guard and reserve members, and eligible spouses."

It's been more than 30 years since the Legion last came to Houston, so we'll be happy to see 'em.
