Weather Week: Much Hotter Than Boston

This is the forecast for Boston this week. I know, right?
My step-sister-in-law posted a note on her Facebook page this morning. She and my step-brother, both extremely awesome people, live in Boston and are nearing moving day. She said that she hoped it will only get hotter as the big day approaches. I immediately assumed she was being sarcastic, but then I checked the weather. The forecast high in Boston tomorrow is 76. You read it right -- seventy-freaking-six. As I write this, our current temperature is 81.

Now, she may be talking about how the high there today is 92, which is admittedly warm, but when you glance at the next week, it's all 80s. That's when it hit me that I have literally never moved in the summer and, do you know why? Guess. That's right, it's freaking hot here in the summer and this is summer.

The last couple days, if you dared to go outside, were not awful. Drier air on Saturday made it downright pleasant with a breeze. Monday was much more humid, but there was a nice stiff breeze last night that kept things less than hellish.

But, as this week continues and high pressure sets in, it's going to be a scorcher. Highs through Sunday are predicted to be in the upper 90s with very little chance of rain. There might be a slight increase in our rain chances by Sunday, but probably not much.

In fact, the next serious chance we have of rain might come from the tropics.

What's up, tropics?

A couple computer models have suggested there could be a storm in the Gulf sometime middle of next week and the forecast of rain towards the July 4 holiday would be indication of that, but at this point, the chances are EXTREMELY low, so I wouldn't put my money on it.

Most likely, it will just feel tropical around here with high heat and humidity. To my lovely relatives in Boston, I say, enjoy your 70s and 80s.
