I.V. Hilliard: Pastor Asks Congregation to Finance New Helicopter Blades

Categories: Religion

What would Jesus fly? Airwolf. He'd fly motherfucking Airwolf.
Just imagine how many more souls Jesus Christ could have saved if he had a helicopter. That would've cut the commute from Tiberias to Jericho by at least a fortnight. So there's no reason that, in 2013, a preacher of the gospel shouldn't be able to spread the word as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Enter Bishop I.V. Hilliard of Houston's New Light Christian Center, who's asking his flock to kick in $52 a piece to help pay for new helicopter blades. Strangely enough, the recommendation for a blade "upgrade" did not come from On High, but from the church's "Aviation Department," which we assume is adjacent to the "Bling Unit."

In a humble letter to his followers, ol' I.V. explains how this is actually a cost-saving measure -- very reassuring, because at first blush it appeared to be an ostentatious, greedy money-grab by a hypocrite (in the Biblical sense) with no real understanding of what J.C. was all about.

Here's some of the letter:

Dear Friend of Jesus,

Do you need better transportation? Does your car need repair or total replacement? Do you have a dream vehicle or luxury automobile you long to purchase? Are you trying to sale a car, truck or SUV? If you answered "yes" to any of these please carefully read the rest of this letter! It could change your life...

....Our Aviation Department has an opportunity that will save the ministry well over $50K if we will move on it right away. My Aviation Manager stated that while repairing our helicopter they discovered that if we upgrade our blades today, it will save thousands in the days to come. As I pondered and looked at the situation, I heard that still small voice of the Holy Spirit say tell your special partners who have special transportation needs and their obedience will release favor for their needs and desires. I got excited and set down to write you!.....

Hilliard also writes: "Send me the transportation need or dream you have...when you sow a $52 transportation favor seed believing in 52 days or 52 weeks you will experience breakthrough favor!"

Hey, Bishop -- you know what else would "save thousands"? Not owning a fucking helicopter!

You really shouldn't have a comment if you don't know your Bible, and if you do and you are not moved to sow a seed then don't sow!  The Bible is spiritually discerned and foolishness to those who haven't received the Holy Spirit!  Alot of these people are reaping real harvest off seeds that are sown.  Everyone has an idea of how to run a church, but none of you guys have one.  If Hilliard on some foul stuff, thats between him and God.  The dude Biblical in his actions, every seed bears it's own fruit so if you want fruit in your life for transportation, sow into the man of Gods life for transportation! Tired of Christians thinking we have to be suffering out here.  Just as we shouldn't judge a man and his standing with God if he broke, we shouldn't do the same if he's not.  Who's the gauge of whats too much anyways, because Bill Gates money would make Hilliards look like middle-class. Get in your word, change your mindset, and stop having opinions based off off emotional perceptions given by the world.  Also be Blessed!

Is it this cat or Kirby John who also mandates church "members" provide their W2s and/or 1099s, (to insure appropriate tithes)? My parish priest drives an 11 year old Civic but I'm still holding my donations until I see what Papa--man of the poor--Francis is gonna do with the Popemobile, Popeplane, Popecopter, Popecave...

does ed young still have a chopper?...  he has 5 campuses to minister to each sunday...  i've seen i.v.'s chopper in the parking lot of their fm529 location and often wondered how much it's monthly maintenance costs compare to that of the strip center they are in...  both churches might want to park the choppers and look into this new technology called distance learning, you know, like videoconferencing?...

meanwhile, here's hilliard's response to his critics...

I believe this is the same pastor whose wife, on the occasion of her birthday some years ago, sent out a polite and informative letter thanking her congregants and reminding them that she prefers Prada and Luis Vuitton. I wish I had the balls to sustain a years-long scam, because I could totally start a church and rake in the big bucks.

Most Honored Dear Esteemed Sir:

Allow me to make introductions of myself as we have not met before as I am the Special Assistant to the Most Esteemed Undersecretary of Internal Affairs.  I am bringing to you today for you most elaborate consideration an offer that will be of the utmost benifecence to those that await your unfettered charity and good will.

Doesn't this remind you of one of those old-school chain letters?
