Charles Davenport: Proof that advertising works.
A man who cops think beat and raped at least seven escort workers has been found, arrested and charged, officials say.

A large composite sketch of Charles Davenport, 25, was posted on a billboard in north Harris County. That billboard, along with investigative work and a lucky break, helped cops crack the case.

"The partnership between law enforcement, corporate America and individuals who fight crime every single day but who don't carry badges or guns was effective in the arrest, pursuit and capture of Charles Eric Devenport," said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

Let us pause while we cheer for Corporate America.

HCSO says Davenport is the only suspect in "seven sexual assaults that took place in the Cypress Station area off I-45 North and FM 1960 between September 2011 and February 2013."

Investigators believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Davenport would meet his victims through online escort services or chat rooms, HCSO says. He would then meet them in a vacant apartment and beat and rape them.

The Houston Chronicle reports the phone used to set up the attacks was traced to Davenport's father, who told cops his son often used it.

And then a woman flagged down an officer after seeing the man in the billboard. Davenport was arrested without incident near where the attacks occurred.
