Rain of Threes: Rockets Bury Warriors, Bogut Drops C-Bomb on Twitter
When it rains, it pours. The Rockets took on the surprising Golden State Warriors Tuesday night in Toyota Center without three-point specialist Carlos Delfino who was out with a sore elbow. Clearly, it didn't matter. The Rockets absolutely poured it on the Warriors in the form of a three-point barrage that will go down in history. The Rockets hit 23 three-pointers, obliterating their own record of 18 and tying the NBA regular season record. In all, they scored 140 points, a fairly common score in the '80s, but not often since.
But that wasn't the real story in this game, unfortunately. That happened with two minutes left. After tying the record, with both benches cleared, the Rockets continued to shoot, attempting to set a new record. That did not sit well with the Warriors and coach Mark Jackson. After Rockets guard Patrick Beverley got a taunting call for an overly-celebratory dunk, Golden State fouled to prevent the Rockets from taking another three.
The Warriors Draymond Green hammered Beverley with a hard foul and both Green and Marcus Morris, who intervened for Beverley, were ejected. Jeremy Lin said later that he thought the celebration from Beverley wasn't a classy move, but the Rockets were not apologizing for anything else. Coach Kevin McHale admitted they were red hot and that they just continued to play their game.
Then things heated up on Twitter when the Warriors' center Andrew Bogut dropped this little gem:
C U Next Tuesday fellas!— Andrew Bogut (@andrewbogut) February 6, 2013
For those who didn't participate in middle school, the Rockets do play at Golden State next week, but not on Tuesday. It's an acronym, people. Look it up!
In response to a re-tweet by Matt Jackson and Adam Wexler of 790 AM KBME, one tweeter posted this:
It's acronyms for EVERBODY!
Perhaps my favorite tweet, however, came from our own Sean Pendergast who summed it up nicely:
Seems to me stopping 3 pointers "old skool" would involve actual defense or knocking a dude into 3rd row. Warriors tactics were bitch school— Sean Pendergast (@SeanCablinasian) February 6, 2013
