Evening Commute Will Be a Very Wet One

As predicted, the wet weather is on us and much of the area has gotten a good soaking, at least an inch and a half by 2 p.m. this afternoon. The rain will continue throughout the afternoon as a warm front moves north through the area, colliding with cooler, drier air to the north.

The storm system has not produced the large downpours the National Weather Service said might occur with isolated pockets of five to seven inches of rain, but most of the Houston-Galveston region should get at least two to three inches by tonight. With very little severe weather, the steady rain should help the entire region to get close to if not completely out of drought conditions, which persist.

Our next chance of precipitation comes this weekend ahead of another cold front. Predictions range from one to two inches beginning Saturday evening. We may see continued rain through Tuesday of next week before dry and fairly cold conditions set in with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the 30s.

Ahead of the front, look for it to be quite warm, with temperatures reaching the mid 70s on Friday and Saturday.
