Bike Texas Considers Dropping Armstrong Custom License Plate

As Lance Armstrong's career continues circling the drain following his admission that he did indeed use performance-enhancing drugs, as had been widely reported, a new loss closer to home could be on the horizon.

According to a report, Bike Texas, a nonprofit bicycle advocacy organization, is considering pulling a Texas license plate that features the image of Armstrong along with the phrase "Share the Road Y'all."

For those with the plates currently, it must be a bit of a quandary. On one hand, the license plate is a statement in support of those who enjoy cycling. On the other, you now have a known cheater and dope user plastered on your car.

Despite Armstrong's admission, sales of the plates have remained unchanged according to Bike Texas. Fortunately, the organization has five new license plates that will be released soon. If they do decide to pull the Armstrong plates, it might be easier if they have something to replace them on deck.

Until that day comes, Bike Texas says they will make decisions on which plates to keep and which to scrap based on sales. And, who knows, if Armstrong completely comes clean, there is a real possibility his popularity could grow. People love a winner, but even more than that, they love a winner who turns out to be a fraud who apologizes and makes a triumphantly poignant return. Classic Greek tragedy...on a bike.

Wonder how much Oprah paid to get him to confess?

It wasn't even a good one.

The only saving grace Texas has is he lives in Austin.

A real apology would have been in front of multiple news sources.

Well duh! Is there is no honor or integrity? Even though I love bike riders I have never gotten into sports idolatry of any type! If you purchased a lance license plate you should have to keep it just to show your stupidy!

It just a game! Get real Get a life!

Lance is a great man. Some send their kids to class to optimize their minds in order to score better on the SAT. Businessmen buy great wisdom from guys like Tom Peters and Steven Covey to get ahead. Others take C0Q and eat blueberries to live longer. Kids workout and take supplements. Parents workout and take supplements. Everyone wishes to optimize in their respective field, it's what we do in America. So what's wrong if Lance boosts his astoundingly great potential to perform in his field?

He should do what Reagan did during Iran/Contra, along the lines of "I didn't believe that what I was doing was doping, but with further information I now realize that in fact I was wrong...and although I tried with the best intention to convey the reality that existed in my mind, I now understand what I did was confused and wrong. And for that I ask your forgiveness..."

@BrieMelton  It's true. Like Colonel Oliver North, Lance knew how to get the job done. Only when the black helicopter folks invaded his body to take blood and urine...well, Lance did beat cancer, right? He took that fight to live and bike just one notch higher. Let's appreciate his awesome competitiveness.

@BBeckman  He could do a Clinton and tell them it depends on their definition of cheat.
