Jessica Barber Gutierrez: Xanax, Prozac, synthetic weed, beer, children and cars don't mix.
A Kingwood woman has been arrested after police caught her behind the wheel of a car while allegedly intoxicated on a cornucopia of substances, all while an eight-month-old baby was buried alive under clothing and a skateboard in the back seat of the trash-filled vehicle.

Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputies found 40-year-old Jessica Barber Gutierrez parked at a Valero station in Porter after she had been observed stopping her car in the road for no reason.

On questioning, Gutierrez told a cop she had chased down some Xanax and Prozac with a single beer, and later, during the booking process, also admitted to also toking on some "potpourri," yet another exciting new entrant in the brave new world of synthetic drugs like K-2 and bath salts.

Not surprisingly, Gutierrez failed a sobriety test.

Once unearthed from the landslide of detritus in the backseat, the baby was found to be in good health. The child is currently in CPS custody.

Gutierrez also told police she had another child -- a 12-year-old. That kid, she explained, was being watched by her 21-year-old roommate. Unfortunately for all parties, Gutierrez could not come up with the babysitter's name.

According to public records, Gutierrez has been charged with DWI twice before and was convicted of child endangerment in Harris County in 2002 and given five years' probation. She is currently being held on enhanced DWI charges in the Montgomery County Jail. Bail was set at $25,000.

Her Facebook page shows Gutierrez to be in a rare, very East Texas sort of Venn Diagram: people who like Eazy-E and Tupac and Clay Walker, the Bible, Mitt Romney and the Tea Party.

"Gutierrez has been charged with DWI twice before..." Surprise surprise. And after this small setback, Texas law will ensure that she's back on the road all jacked up in no time.

Confusing article title...glad the kid is ok, though.

@SgtStedenko You seem to deal with symptoms instead of causes, USA1. Why not legalize drugs and treat dependence like this as a medical problem. All so you won't complain about forking out to support her prison term and her kids as wards of the state. Think deeper. Don't just react to everything.

@delano Yeah. It's all the drugs' fault. The pills flew into her mouth, along with the beer. Yep. 0 personal responsibility.

@SgtStedenko @coniglioears Well yeah if she is sick and impaired (or just a selfish fool as you might diagnose) you would hope the kids would be removed from the situation.

@coniglioears @SgtStedenko I guess some people give selfish fools a free pass and put up all kinds of excuses for their idiotic actions. Some don't. Your pathetic attempt to try and compare this to the tragedy just shows your desperation. Notice while I wrote the murderer was batshit crazy, I didn't make that an excuse for what he did like you are trying to do with this woman. Hopefully they take her kids away from her for good since she obviously doesn't care that much about them.

@SgtStedenko

Here we go again. You just allowed in another thread that a gun-wielding killer might be subject to a mental illness, and even expressed an interest in exploring that scenario. Wow! Is it too far a logical leap for you to think that an addiction might be a mental/physical problem here? Something that bears somewhat on culpability? And that she might not be in total control of her faculties? Personal responsibility...oh yeah, except if a gun is involved. Then maybe mental illness...

I believe in personal responsibility, not blame passing and excuses. The drugs she took are already legal, if you have a prescription (except for the worthless fake weed).

You don't think she is to blame for her actions? Why?

What does science have to do with pill-popping idiots who drive around high with babies buried in their back seats? I fail to see the correlation. Enlighten me.
