The owner of the Thai Noodle House is in hot tom yum gai after he dropped some particularly heinous statements about the Sandy Hook shooting on his Facebook page. Eddie Nimibutr's rant about how no one cares about minorities being shot has made national headlines and the backlash has caused him to do an about-face and apologize.

In a classic example of the public nature of social networking, Nimibutr, born in Thailand, was unapologetic at first after the comments he initially made about the tragedy in Connecticut.

I don't care if a bunch of white kids got killed. Fuck Post-Racial bullshit. When kids from minority groups get shot, nobody cares. When Israel launched missiles at the school on Gaza, everybody was too busy jerking off. Why should i care about people who dont give a damn about me?

But just today, Nimibutr issued an apology and even admitted he went to church for the first time in years after calling it "superstitions" in his initial rant.

I truly caught hell these past few days. I am beyond myself with this firestorm. I am truly sorry for the pain I have caused and the things I have said. I didn't mean to upset anyone of you. I am broken and lost. I am very sorry for the misundertandings I created. I deserved the punishment for the chaos I made. I even walked into church and sat there awhile. wow, 10 years since. I really don't know where else to turn. All I can say is I am very sorry to you my friends. I don't know how else to express my sincere apology.

Other rants have either been hidden or removed from his Facebook page.

I think he's right that the media and most people wouldn't give a crap if these were mostly black and brown kids. For him not to care is b.s. though. These kids were innocent and had nothing to do with Americas racial issues. I wouldn't feel comfortable going to his place after knowing this.

Tactless and rant-y, yes, but he has a point. If these weren't mostly (all?) cute white kids I don't think there would be the same reaction, and that makes me feel a little rant-y myself.

refuse to read, most peoples opinions are worth what you paid for them.

I wouldn't have said it, but I kind of agree with the guy.

we all have the right to our own opinions. we can also choose where to spend our hard-earned money. just because there is injustice in america, i wouldn't support someone's business who disparaged innocent children simply because they were killed at school and now the media is covering it like there's nothing else going on. you can't have any empathy for these innocent kids? forgive me if i don't want to patronize anyone's business who is that cold-hearted.

Sum Dum Gai sure effed up his brand with that little rant.

He was a total ass-douche. No, I will probably never darken the door of his establishment after this.

That was quite an apology he made. The man begged for forgiveness.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I understand his point of view but definitely don't agree with it. How would I know he was the owner of this restaurant unless I knew him personally, or met him before?? So, no I probably wouldn't stop going to his establishment because he has a right to speak his mind. God bless him...I pray he finds inner peace soon.

awful! Why so much hate? Hopefully this makes him realize he needs to reevaluate his heart and very poor judgement of others.

he was expressing anger and frustration that stems from society caring about this and that race getting attn over deaths while another race does not. to some extent it's true bc no one publicizes the "kids in the street" "in the ghettos" who die everyday kind of thing. but it doesn't ever make any child's death more important than the other. EVER. we all say things when we're pissed and/or lost both in public and private. but ppl who speak like this mean NO HARM to anyone. and him apologizing should prove that he knows that, and adults reading this should understand it bc u know what it's like to be angry and say hurtful or scary crap too, and want to take it back or apologize like he did.

There was some validity to his rant...but he said it in such a terrible way it cancels it out....Plus there is no good Thai food in Austin...

Apparently some people are considered to be heartless monsters for not having the same "grief" main stream America is feeling. Jonathan said it right.

He took it too far saying he didn't care about what happened - but made some valid points. It is a shame that we only seem to value the lives of our children and there has been little uproar over the deaths of children elsewhere - or, for that matter, all of the children of color who are regularly gunned down in ghettos and barrios across America.

Yes, when one is lost in doubt and self-approbation it makes perfect sense to turn to primitive superstition for help. Faith will solve his problems, even if the evidence and his experience tells him otherwise.

@Ghirardello  Do you have any comments about what he posted on his FB? (After you step down off your little soap box of course)

@SgtStedenko Gosh, if so many believe that you're in the cleaning/janitorial business, and they get it from the internet like you say, and it's not true like you say, does that ever make you wonder about the veracity of what YOU'RE consuming on the internet and then repeating here?

SgtStedenko

There-never-was-any-janitorial-or-cleaning-business. Ever. How many times must I repeat myself until it finally sinks in? Do you always believe what wannabe internet detectives write? How gullible can one possible be, anyway?
