Theodore Hargrove faces two charges.
A man said to be high on drugs veered off the Southwest Freeway service road and slammed into a car at a gas station, killing the two people inside it, Houston police say.

Theodore Adolphus Hargrove, 33, faces two charges of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the incident in the 2500 block of the Southwest Freeway near Kirby at about 12:20 a.m. this morning, HPD says.

The names of the victims -- a man and a woman -- have not been released pending notification of family members.

Police say Hargrove "was found to be under the influence of illegal narcotics" after he was driving a black Chevrolet Impala on the Southwest service road at an excessive rate of speed and ran the red light at Kirby.

"He then veered off the roadway and into the parking lot of a Shell gas station at the above address," HPD says. "Hargrove then struck the driver's side door of a blue Chevrolet Impala, driven by the victim. The blue Impala was sitting in the driveway of the service station, waiting to exit onto the service road."

Both victims were declared dead at the scene. Hargrove is at Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
