UT Bomb Threat About Over, Classes May Resume (UPDATED, No Classes Today)

Categories: Education

An unusual morning in Austin seems to be coming to a calm end.

Students and staff received the above warning today after the University of Texas says it got several calls featuring "a middle eastern accent" warning of bombs on campus and connections to Al-Quaeda.

Students mostly milled about the Drag in the rain, waiting for word.

The latest UT tweet seems to indicate the worst is past, though:

Time specified in phone threat has passed but we have not yet cleared all buildings. Decision to resume operations&classes will come shortly

And the latest:

All activities except classes will resume at 5 p.m. Buildings may be reentered at noon. Today's classes are cancelled.

That's the only way UT students get to enjoy the equivalent of a snow day.

And, here's a tip, al qaeda doesn't call in to "warn" about their bombs.  They just detonate them.
