Ted Cruz Is Here to Protect Texas from the UN

Looking for blue berets.
Texas Republican voters finally jumped to their senses Tuesday and followed the clarion call of Sarah Palin by electing Ted Cruz to the U.S. Senate over pallid insider David Dewhurst.

The upset was the latest bit of rebellion from the Tea Party, adding to the footnotes that will be written in political studies of our time. Since Dewhurst and Cruz would all but have the same voting records in the Senate, the only substantive effect will be making the message even clearer to people running in GOP primaries that they need to stake out the most extreme positions, and then go even further.

Where the "can't be outflanked from there" line will be drawn, anyone knows. But it will be entertaining to watch.

All of this will be moot, of course, should Democratic Senate primary winner Paul Sadler shock the worl -- no, we can't bring ourselves to write that sentence.

Go on out there and fight the good fight for the UN and the endangered golf courses of the nation, Sadler. Someone has to.

Update: For another view, check out our take on Ted Cruz as genuine Tea Party intellectual -- you can disagree with his views, but there's no doubt he is a serious thinker. (Except maybe about the UN and golf courses.)

Richard, if Cruz was a serious thinker, he would not espouse the conspiracy theory about the UN and golf courses. Thinking Tea Party member is an oxymoron, emphasis on moron.  I don't find him to be that smart, his education and clerkship to the Supreme Court nonwithstanding.  I have known too many people with college degrees that will buy any loony conspiracy theory, believe in Creationism etc. As if the knowledge they obtained at university only permeated the most shallow layers of their brains.

"IN YOUR FACE, Creeping Sharia Law!!!"

People are getting dumber. No question about it.

I guess this would be a good time to invest in the tin foil hat industry?

I am more concerned with Creeping Christian Fundy Law. Which in my mind is not a whole lot different from sharia law.  But you are correct, that people actually believe that Sharia Law is a real problem goes to show that complex thinking about the real issues affecting the US can't be understood by this lot.
