Dominique Sachse's Wedding: Filed Under "Things We Need to Not Hear About So Much"

The blushing bride hates publicity.
DID YOU HEAR?!?!?!?

KPRC anchorwoman Dominique Sachse got married!!!!!! OMG!!!!!

In case you missed the Channel 2 ads, Sachse was one of -- if not the -- hardest-working single moms out there. That's a remark which, if we were churlish, we would find incredibly insulting to all the single moms in Houston who don't have access to River Oaks-level nanny care.

But we're not churlish.

Sachse, 44, married businessman Nick Florescu in what the station dubbed "an intimate ceremony" officiated by Joel Osteen, who's all about keeping things on the down-low.

How intimate?

On Sunday on Local 2 News at 10, Local 2's Rachel McNeill takes us all to the ceremony.

You'll see Dominique's jaw-dropping gown and the incredible cake made to replicate it. More photos will also be posted on Click2Houston.com.

Intimate!!!

The Houston Chronicle linked to its coverage of the "love story" behind the intimate event, a story which included these gems:

He put a ring on it with a custom-designed, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring.

She reciprocated with a new Jaguar for him.

Their never-fail looks: For her, it's an A-line shape in black - "a simple dress or pencil skirt with a structured jacket or top, very classic." For him: "Anything by Armani or Zegna."
He loves the outdoors, preferably in a warmer climate. "It's about having quality time together, no matter where," she says. "But if you're looking for places, Napa, France and Rome were quite spectacular."

Sounds like hardworking single moms all around Houston.

Actually, Joel is a very nice person. He married my parents for "free" in a small ceremony at his church....and we are not wealthy. So, why don't you keep your nasty opinions to yourself....you sound like a very jealous mean person.

If this is what a wedding should be like, then why do gay people want it so much?

DS should have been on this seasons Bachelorette. She fits the story . . . Single mom, finding the love of her life, unoriginal story channel 2. Abc beat you to it! Nexxxt

Flat-Backing News Reader

She drove every sound byte of publicity for this wedding, fueled by her own narcissism, arrogance, desire to make her ex feel bad, and of course because she thinks she is an extitled proncess.Fact is, she's a poor news reader, she's as fake as her boobs, her overbite from a profile biew is atrocious, and her nanny is the mother to her son (a son she just uses for her own PR needs and then pawns off on nanny). She's classless.

She is a beautiful, wealthy, successful, (relatively)  young celebrity (in Houston, if mattress mac is a celeb why can't a "newsreader" be?).  Her mate is a rich dude with a fer'nur name.  The only thing that should matter is that they are happy, and for that we should wish them the best.  Period.  Stop hatin'.

BARF!!!  Could  care  less  about  the  attention whores  .And  Channel 2  is  NOT a serious  "news" station.

What does this say about Houston?

You'd never see this type of thing in Boston or New York or Charleston or Chicago, would you?Where a TV news-presenter is feted, even by the daily paper, for being married (again).

"Joel Osteen, who's all about keeping things on the down-low."

That's what I've always heard.

I have heard from a very credible source that when she originally got the job at Channel 2 her mom called the station to tell them to make sure that they pronounce her name correctly; it's Dominque with a hard O, you guys. Ridiculous.

Rehearsal dinner at Channel 2 on Friday night...interrupted by the bride having to do the 10 o'clock news ????  Couldn't she afford to take the night off ???

I lived in Houston for a year and a half. The first time I saw this gal on the tele, my first thought was "pompous, arrogant bitch." Sure, she's kind of good looking with all the obvious plastic surgery and I certainly would let her sit on my face, but c'mon. Ch. 2 was more tabloid than actual news when I was there (July 2009 - December 2010).

I thought she was already married.  She had a child a few years ago and it seemed to me she had a husband at the time.  Unfortunately that is what news anchors think news is and they are all drama queens (males included) when they script the news.  Oh where is Walter Cronkite!!!!

Wow - people are so quick to be nasty, and a little too comfortable about it. Be happy for them, or tune out. There's really no reason to pass judgement and be hateful.

When I heard that this wedding was "Houston Royalty",I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard. For one, I never even heard of this schmoe and Dominique is just a news anchor, not Princess Dianna. Yeah, they may have money but, that doesn't impress me one bit. KPRC should have simply made a quick comment about it and let it go.  They covered this event all week leading up to the wedding, even more so than serious,  news-worthy items. I wonder if Radar the weather dog was in attendance as well. Complete joke. Who Cares!!!!

I'm not sure if it was an unintentional oversight, but I never received my wedding invitation.

It's true:  That's pretty small-town stuff. But not even the best part of living in a small town.

The best part would be the fish fry every week somewhere or other; the being able to walk home from school without mace, the ... hey, wait a minute! I didn't see the original coverage. Did Ms. Sachse wear WHITE?!?!

Savenierres

....That Houston is a young city that readily makes its own history each day, owing to a lack of old money and stratification, where everything is possible. Hell, look at the clams that Shelby Hodge covers and adulates (too many examples to offend with a list, and it's been done humorously here already). Dominique is just the latest incarnation. Read CultureMap, PaperCity, and the rest to find today's daily dish of something OUTSTANDING and world-class. I wish we had a Spy Magazine like NYC had in the 80's just to cover it satirically.

Anyway. Gotta love it. It's Houston. We tear down our history as if it meant nothing, and erect instead our local heads of air as though they are meaningful, forgetting our common journey in the meantime.

You know what the rehearsal dinner reminded me of? Or at least where they had it? How they always seemed to have special events at Grace Brothers.   (Yes. I am a fan of "Are You Being Served?" )

Well I agree with you up to a point but why on earth does a newsreader get all this attention?

Wouldn't it be better if we showcased a teacher's wedding or perhaps someone from our Children's Museum?

Strange.

It's ashamed no one has anything nice to say although it just shows us all the brains you guys are dealing  with you have none. It seems you guys are so quick to rack her over the coals which actually its only showing how unhappy you guys are with your own lives. I think its great she wants to share her happiness with all of her fans,no one is making you guys read the news about her wedding except yourselves so just keep your opinions to yourself.

Hanabi-chan

I am happy for them. I hope that when people wed that they have a long and joyous union.  I just don't like the famewhore aspect of it, and I hate that the management of Channel 2 had to trumpet this like it was a major news story. It isn't and it wasn't. A small announcement would have been nice and then that is that.

Wrong. The two clowns are the reason nobody respects marriage anymore.

I think we are quick to 'rack' her over the coals, because she won't let us be, and keeps allowing her own rack to be pushed for profit.

The Florescus are Romanian.  Nick is the oldest son.  It is his third marriage (he left three young children for Dom), and her second.  Romance indeed!  I have been sort of wondering what his second wife must think of all the hoopla surrounding this great love story...

HA! Sorry -- typed fast.  Nick had two children w his first wife, three with his second (and they are fairly young), and now has moved on to DS.  I sort of laughed when everyone was  saying what a god-fearing husband she had found.  And Rev. Osteen marrying them, etc.

Um, okay.  Wish them much happiness, etc.  With that many marriages between us, I am not sure I would have done such a blowout for my wedding... but that is me.  Wish them the best.
