Comment of the Day: De-Funkification Edition

Categories: Weather

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

John Nova Lomax wrote about the state moving to shut down the Fannin Food Mart right across from the downtown bus station due to the high rate of crime. Lomax lamented the de-funkification of the downtown/midtown area, but when commenter "try it" chimed in, we started to figure it out.

Why all this worry about being held up or what ever ? Get a CHL, grow up don't be afraid to bust a cap. I know I don't have a problem with doing it.

We think we understand now. Yikes.

Isn't it the cops' job to clean up the crime?  If they (the cops) know there is drug dealing taking place, why don't THEY (the cops) set up surveliance and make arrests?  It would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Shutting down a store because there is crime?  Why isn't Walmart out of business for all of the shoplifting that goes on there?

Maybe it's a land grab?  I remember when shady lawyers made their grab for the land where the old Antones on Taft was.

This place was fine pre-Enron.  I lived around the corner.  Bought a BMW across the street.  Used the dry cleaners, Taco Bell, Southern Maid and gas all the time.

Once the civility ordinance and Enron collapese, the entire joint kept going down hill.

Once the original dry cleaner owners left for the burbs that was all she wrote.

FYI - The dudes who run this garage are good guys.

Anonymous commenters are always such tough dudes!

I have no idea where to find such tough talkers out here in the real world, though...

And don't forget that they are all chiseled from marble and have huge cocks and sleep with models every night.
