Hammer Time: The Social Network Actor Busted at Border for Pot Brownies

Like the Batmobile of drugs, Cheech and Chong's van made of weed.
The Texas border is a rather notorious place when it comes to drugs and people trying to cross into the United States carrying them. In fact, both Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg were busted in the exact same location, Sierra Blanca. Traditionally, these drugs are found in the vehicle of the accused or on his person and pretty much always in the form of, you know, actual drugs, which brings us to our story.

Armie Hammer -- the actor, not the stuff you keep in your fridge to keep it smelling fresh -- who is best known for his role as both the douchey, Ivy League, competitive rowing Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, was apparently busted at the Texas-Mexico border at the end of November for possession of marijuana in -- guess where, you got it! -- Sierra Blanca. It's clearly where all the stars bring their weed.

But, a funny thing about Hammer's weed: it came in the form of baked goods. According to police reports, Hammer was found in possession of 0.02 ounces of marijuana, three medicinal marijuana cookies and one brownie. They make medical marijuana cookies? The munchies just got tastier.

Hammer was released on $1,000 bail the day after his arrest, and the district attorney declined to press charges because the amount fell below the four ounces needed for federal prosecution. No word yet on whether local authorities will press charges, but we guess they were too busy laughing to fill out the paperwork.

Hammer is now safely back in Hollywood where he continues his work on the upcoming Lone Ranger film with Johnny Depp. Perhaps next he'll consider a remake of Up in Smoke.

Let’s keep celebrities and everyday citizens from crowdingour courts and jails contributing to the money pit that is the War on Pot.  When will our Government realize it canprofit more from taxing the sale of the harmless medicinal herb than by jailingpeople for it?  Groups are organizing allover the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws and defending thisplant.  I drew up a very cool poster forthe cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot...  Drop in and let me know what you think!
