Occupy Houston: Arrests Made at Port

Categories: Spaced City

Action this day.
The Occupy Houston protesters took to the Port of Houston today, with about 70 people showing up and several arrests made for blocking a service road, according to some estimates.

HPD and the sheriff's office were out in force, including mounted patrols, and seemed to have a preplanned procedure for processing the arrests. They also had barriers to keep other protesters out of the road.

The protesters did succeed in shutting down traffic on one road for at least a while.

Occupy Houston said on its Web site that it was

joining our brothers and sisters in the Occupy movement around the United States in a coordinated action targeting the nation's ports. This event is an expression of solidarity with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and West Coast truck drivers who have come under attack this year, as well as a statement against the multinational conglomerates and their relentless campaign to outsource American jobs and undermine our economy in the pursuit of ever-widening profit margins.

Later this afternoon, about 4 p.m., protesters are expected to march "From Tranquility Park on down the length of downtown Main St. from in a visible display of support for the West Coast Port Shutdown effort and the American working class," the Web site says.

Is it okay for Texas politicians to have an insider source and invest in insider trading; and then dump all their stocks as soon as the general public buys into a stock, screwing them into the loses? While those politicians profit anywhere from $500,000 to $5 million per stock transaction sale, just for legally being able to commit insider trading since Senators & Congressmen are exempt from that law ... thats okay with everyone?

Absolute morons.  Attempting to shut down business is not free speech, it's a crime.  They should all be arrested, de-loused, and put on a prison chain gang.

And sitting in a park defecating in public and then laying in the road to try and shut down a port is going to bring justice where percieved injustice exists?  This is a war against capitalism, plain and simple.  Who'se going to give them handouts when all the businesses are shut down?  Where do the jobs come from when the park poopers shut down the economy?

What about NDAA.. Is that not a crime against the citizens of America??? What about the bailout money corporations received and ended up giving themselves millions in bonuses.. Is that not a crime??? The banks that foreclose illegally.. Is that not a crime. No wonder this country is the way it is because you let the corruption happen.

So it's OK to break the law and disrupt others' livelihoods to protest other crimes? Uh, no. That excuse isn't going to work.

it only seems to you, like they are only obstructing commerce because you have been Conditioned to think & view things that way. Just like people were & are conditioned to think obama cares about America & Americans. The Truth is Occupy is the Awaking of that Conditioned way of Thinking.
