Comment of the Day: Stay Outside the Loop, Noise-Ordinance Lovers

Categories: Whatever

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We reported on a townhall meeting at Fitzgerald's about the city's new noise ordinance, which has been worrying Houston bar and club owners.

One reader lamented the newcomers who pushed for the law.

I really pisses me off that these clubs like Numbers and Fitzgeralds and South Beach that have been there since the 70's or 80's have to all of a sudden be under threat of closing due to these ass hole people moving in from outside the loop. If you want a quiet neighborhood then stay out in Katy or Kingwood where you belonmg. Move near an established club and expect stupid can a person be??

The stupidity is expecting to put a bar in a residential neighborhood; the stupidity in willing to live in a residential area that has no zoning. And the REALLY stupid part is a city that has NO Zoning, leaving it up to the civic groups (Montrose has over 30) to complain about the results of no zoning and then try to get silly ordinences on the books to deal with it. Good luck with that. Finally, in case you haven't noticed, Montrose has been loosing it's cool Greenwich Village-esque appeal (for which it once drew snarled weekend nightime traffic which stretch from lower Westerheimer to Shepard,) for over a decade now, thanks to New Urbanism. Bye-bye urban animals. All hail Yuppiedome.
