Ex-Hand Doctor Michael Brown's Assault Trial Begins Monday
Ex-hand surgeon and international dildo transporter Michael Brown is set to stand trial in Harris County District Court September 12 on a felony assault charge involving his wife, Rachel.
Michael Brown: TV ad star is in the dock.
Brown was indicted in January for an August 2010 incident in which he allegedly twisted his wife's arm behind her back. (The indictment was amended last week and no longer includes the "behind her back" part.)
Assault is a misdemeanor, but Brown's charge was enhanced to a felony because he pleaded no contest in 2002 to aggravated assault in Montgomery County; the charge stemmed from an incident in which he beat his previous wife with a broken bedpost. She was seven months pregnant at the time. For beating the shit out of a defenseless and pregnant woman, the heavy hammer of Texas justice fell upon Brown's head, and he received ten years' probation. The felony charge carries a penalty range of 2-10 years in prison.
Rachel Brown filed for divorce after the August 2010 incident, and her attorney alleged in Family Court last March that the ex-doc hired a hit man to kill her.
Brown, who's represented by Dick DeGuerin, lost his medical license in 2006 after testing positive for cocaine. (The Brown Hand Center's Web site prefers the term "retired.")
However, there is at least one silver lining to come out of all of this: The Hand Center finally got rid of that creepy "Daddy's little girl" commercial...
