Clarence Vick: Cops have few leads in his murder.
Clarence Vick, 61, was murdered about a month ago at 3 a.m. while he was watering his lawn.

Police and his family put out a renewed plea today for help in finding his killer, and gave a fuller picture of the victim.

"Vick had lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. He was active in his church and heavily supported local law enforcement," HPD said. "He was a graduate of the HPD Citizen's Police Academy and had also been a chaplain with Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Constable's Office before health problems caused him to resign."

They said he had not run into any trouble at the clubs he shot at that night, and they think he was just the victim of a random robber.

"Whenever he was needed, he was always there," his daughter, Cara Vick, said at a press conference. "No matter how busy he was, he would never turn anyone down."

"It's a big loss," said family friend Lillian Harrington. "I've known Clarence since third grade. He was a Christian with the values of a Christian."

Harrington also has a message for Vick's killer. "How can you sleep at night? How can you walk around, eat, drink and live?"

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

"I hope people come forward," Cara Vick said. "It would mean the world to me and it's the right thing to do."
