Ron Paul: Yes, People Are Still Laughing If You Think You Will Be The 2012 GOP Nominee

Lake Jackson's favorite congressman, Ron Paul, proudly announced to the nation yesterday that no one's laughing at him anymore when he says he could become the Republican nominee for president and maybe get in the White House.

"They mocked me for my foreign policy and they laughed at my monetary policy. No more. No more. The people are coming over here," Paul said on CNN's State of the Union.

Paul's analysis of the burgeoning rise of grassroots America calling for the gold standard, legalizing pot, killing the Patriot Act and immediately bringing all troops home from foreign wars -- starts at about the five-minute mark above.

Paul took a pass when he was asked to "size up" potential nominees like Sarah Palin: "I'm not much into sizing up anybody," he said.

If Paul is talking about winning straw polls at overlooked early state political functions, then possibly he's right on target with his ever-growing political strength. And certainly the ability to raise big amounts of cash via the internet has been a boon to him.

But if he thinks the country is going to elect him president, then yes, people are still laughing at him.

But that's why we love him.

I love his politics, but the Marxist, liberal media will make sure that he's treated like a bumbling fool if he win's the nomination.  Paul's libertarianism is a breath of fresh air from the Marxist statism of Obama or the $ Statism of the bumbling, cocktail-swilling Republicans.

I want out of Afghanistan and Irag and Libya and Yemen and all the other places Mr. Obama has put or kept us "for the good of mankind."  Paul stated that the Libyan operation is not only ill-considered and wrong, but it will lead to terrorist reprisals against the U.S.   The media:  *silent*.  And if we are attacked, we are to blame Bush.

Ron Paul has great ideas that hipsters, conservatives and liberals love.  The problem is, the Marxist media will do its best to destroy Paul's candidacy if he wins in NH, SC and Iowa and becomes the Republican frontrunner.  Like Sarah Palin.  Left-wing comedians now talk of murdering the former Governor.  The media:  *silent*.  I love liberalism.

I remember watching the 2008 election when Rev. Jeremiah Wright was uncovered by FOX and Drudge:  the church's connection to HAMAS, Obama's 20-year relationship to its anti-Semitic, racist "pastor" and Obama's anti-Zionist, anti-Jewish, racist beliefs.  But color trumps politics.  Obama won.  National warm fuzzy.  Now we find ourselves in two more wars, a dead economy, sexual predation on Capitol Hill, and confidence in the Messiah now at an all time low.

And while the nation goes to shit (thanks to Dem's and Rep's), the President is spending his 73rd outing on the golf course (like Bush) teeing off with the Republicans.

That's odd, I'm a physics major at a UC and no one I know is laughing at Ron Paul. Why would we laugh when our dollar is loosing value and our foreign policy is just wasting our money and making more enemies. I tend to take the future of our country very seriously. Ron Paul is the only candidate on either side who I will support.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you, then you win.

I think this article is completely inaccurate. He goes on to describe stances that are wildly popular with the American people (like bringing the troops home) and them claims that Paul has no chance to win the vote. If he represents ideas that people agree with, and (as the article states) he has good fundraising skills, then obviously he can win the nomination. Poor journalism.

I will write Dr. Paul in if he doesn't appear on my ballot. I'm done with Republicrats.

Another hollow attack on Dr. Ron Paul.

Mr. Connelly who should you vote for? Everyone who says they would NOT vote for someone should offer up their choice...

Mr. Connelly I think you are a weak, and fearful person. You are in the grey zone where you are writing these kinds of articles, but you don't know who to choose, so you lash out in an attempt to gain clarity.

Mr. Connelly you are afraid of liberty because it takes personal responsibility, and it takes bravery to change, and you lack both. You would rather dismiss liberty, and stay safe wrapped up in the status quo of today's broken system, without offering who or what you would do to change anything.

You might not like Dr. Paul, but you better like his ideas, and in a race where he is the ONLY person with these ideals, you best get behind him...

You Mr. Connelly are the worst kinda of person... a "know-nothing" "do-gooder" who has tons of criticism and NOTHING in the way of solutions.

In short you are a coward.

Keep bashing, and keep dismissing, and keep your mouth shut if you are not going to contribute.

You are a small man Mr. Connelly.

Ron Paul?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Oh wait, he said I couldn't laugh anymore.  Are libertarians supposed to be telling me when to laugh or not?  I'm confused.  I'll just vote democrat since the republicans can't get their heads out of their . . .

Richard, maybe when you're pushing a wheelbarrow full of useless paper money to buy a loaf of genetically modified bread, you'll think differently. You're just as bad as the liberal who still supports Obama despite his continuation of Bush era policies - you can't see that there are significant differences between now and then.

Who else do you advocate? The special interest candidate Mitt Romney? The supposed 'front-runner' of the Republican Party even though he's pro-choice and enacted Socialized Medicine in his home state? There's no way he's going to be able to spin that. He's going to need $2 million to Ron Paul's $1 million just to keep up.

In 2008, there was no Tea Party, many people didn't know who he was and many of his ideas were thought as fringe. Now, successfully predicting the Economic Recession and the Housing Bubble, he has gained a lot of credibility. Young Americans for Liberty and Campaign for Liberty have grown and have reached many more people since then.

Mitt Romney is just a big government conservative and would be no better in leading the United States out of this mess than President Obama.

Why is it whenever someone makes a lighthearted crack at Ron Paul, his supporters come out to demonstrate that they have no sense of humor whatsoever? The man wins straw polls at CPAC that very few of the attendees participate in. We get it, you are a vocal minority in the Republican party. Well, not that kind of minority, but you get the picture.

It's funny and weird. Thou shalt not speak ill of the holy Paul and his anointed son. And what makes it even more funny is that Rand was an atheist.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that will end all the wars. Both Republicans and Democrats support endless Wars for Israel, it all started nearly a decade ago under a false flag attack.9/11 and Israel, here:http://www.iuniverse.com/Books...

Oh yes,Ron Paul supporter are really happy about his $1.1 million fund raising and the anti Romney are very happy too but how can they compare $1.1 million to $10.25 million what are the different are? you guy just  want to make you happy or you want to unite the party ? how do you look a national leader and a local leader? how do you think Ron Paul can beat Obama? why Obama is the president now? because you guy and the republican party helped elected Obama that mean you don't have vision to chose your real leader, your right nominee, and your international leader, what are the issue, the topic, the problems are but the voter just look at the personal character and his own leadership style and the way he speech,he walk,he stand, who look presidential,he has leadership style, who is the smartest, strongest, and look a power full person,he is their hero and their choice, only Mitt has all that and only Mitt is the most Obama and democrat scare, only Mitt can beat Obama by land slide in 2012 what ever other say, attack, blame, critic or hit Mitt.Mike, Daniel,Trum, Barbour are smart and they saw Mitt leadership they want to unite the party and defeat Obama, they don't want to fight themselves to waste times.

You're stunning: Mitt Romney is another plastic neoconservative. He's bought and paid for by special interests. Just b/c we elect another statist with an 'R' after their name doesn't mean you win. What heck is the point of winning an election if you lose as a country? Never understood that. Absolutely ridiculous.

Being the supposed front-runner of the Republican Party even though you enacted Socialized medicine in your home state is both amazing and disturbing to me. I don't understand how you'd vote for that over someone who predicted the Housing Bubble and the recession years before it happened. I understand why you'd laugh back then but now? You must have some serious issues with reading comprehension and grasping reality.

I don't even understand why you even voice your opinion in the first place; you get your beliefs from television and corporate media anyway, why even bother? Perhaps you can join Richard in pushing that wheelbarrow full of useless paper money to buy your GMO bread - laughing at Ron Paul the entire way.

The author is obviously a neo-conservative...  they mention their objections - "gold standard, legalizing pot, killing the Patriot Act and immediately bringing all troops home from foreign wars"...

So - what do you expect a big government Statist to say?

What would Mr. Connelly do without the State to take care of him?  Mr. Connelly needs the government to use prohibition to keep him from smoking pot.  Mr. Connelly needs the government to spy on all of us - we might be terrorists!  Mr. Connelly likes his printed money from the Federal Reserve (keep an eye on the value of your cash!)  Mr. Connelly thinks we need to have troops in over 130 countries - it shows what a peaceful nation we are.  Mr. Connelly thinks spending over a trillion dollars, over 6000 troops dead and how many civilians (10s of thousands) was worth taking out Osama bin Laden.

Mr. Connelly is laughing... but it is a nervous laugh...

People are still laughing at Sarah Palin. And Mitt Romney's hypocrisy. Even President Obama's first term has shown that he isn't someone to be taken seriously. Ron Paul, on the other hand, as a proponent of feasible solutions, should be taken seriously. You can't keep laughing at the guy who's always right.

If they're laughing it is only because thery know that dunb-asses like you will vote without regard to any rational thought on issues such as the gold standard, legalization of pot, foreign wars, or the Patriot Act.  Most voters are like that guy who comes up on stage to be hypnotized and he clucks like a chicken everytime someone says "hamburger".  Except the words are "compationate" or "the children", or "fiscal responsibility".  The problem with Ron Paul is that he is likely to solve many of these problems which threatens both the left and the right.

So keep clucking like a chicken Rich Man.

I remember a similar denunciation, a self-denunciation by a former vice president who had just lost a California race for US senate, "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore!"  Most agreed with him at the time.  Of course he went on to become president.

Interesting that a paper that purports to represent Houston won't back one of its own. Hmmmm... It's readers should look into that. Never know where the real money flows from, where the writers are really from, where they really received their educations from, where their real interests lay. It certainly doesn't sound like Texas, or even America, and most certainly not the Constitution are the prime motivation for the writings passing as "objective" journalistic endeavors at this Houston "news" paper.

If you're laughing at Ron Paul, the joke's on you.  He was right about the wars, and he was right about the economy.  He's the only one with truly serious solutions, other than Gary Johnson, who is getting even less love than Paul this time around.  Do some research: compare Paul's fundraising and polling at this point in the 2012 election to how he was doing at this point in 2008 election.  There's a huge difference.  His ideas are resonating.

This article is strange. I consider myself an average American with few kids , wife and home and Dr Paul is the only candiate on both sides of the political spectrum that represents me. Perhaps its the media who are out of touch with society or its just another spin session. Ron Paul 2012...the good doctor is needed.
