Comment of the Day: In Defense of Rick Perry

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We noted a Fox News interview Governor Rick Perry had done where he answered a question about his relative unpopularity in Texas by saying, "A prophet is generally not loved in their hometown."

We pondered on the Bible-beltin' Perry calling himself a prophet, but one defender said we were way out of line.

Marlon Brown wrote:

You should be ashamed to distort comments like this. It is the media at works again. Listen, just because someone uses an analogy in proverb that does not mean the person implied he is a prophet. I could say "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" that does not mean I was hit in the eye. Idiot.

As you are the typical braindead leftist.

You guys really went all out on that graphic. Good job, Art Department!

Like if he were to say: I am God! He doesn't really mean that he is God. It is a metaphor. Duh.

Would it be totally inappropriate to resort to meme here?

I can't tell if you're bring ironic, or if you really are just that stupid.
