TDCJ: Who's guarding the guards?
A Texas Department of Criminal Justice guard has been arrested and charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

Alejandro Smith, 21, worked in Huntsville's Eastham Unit; police got a tip that he was "providing contraband to prisoners," the U.S. Attorney's Office said today.

Law enforcement officials set up a sting in a Target parking lot. Smith entered a vehicle to pick up a duffel bag with a kilo of heroin, unaware he was being watched by a cornucopia of cops: the FBI, Texas Rangers, Walker County Sheriff's Office, Huntsville Police Department and the TDCJ Institutional Division - Office of Inspector General were all on the scene.

TDCJ spokesperson Michelle Lyons tells Hair Balls Smith was hired in November 2010. He's expected to be arraigned Friday and faces five and up to 40 years in federal prison and a $5 million fine.
