Checking if a gun is loaded at 2 a.m.
In something out of Pulp Fiction, a woman was killed when a passenger in the backseat of her car accidentally shot her, police say.

Laura Anna Guillen, 31, was sitting in the driver's seat of a car in the 4600 block of Collingsworth near the Fifth Ward about 2 a.m. today when the shooting occurred.

Houston police say a man sitting in the backseat told them he was checking if his gun was loaded when it went off.

Guillen was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed in the case, but an investigation in continuing.

Update: Jorge Armando Mendoza, 32, has been charged with manslaughter in the case, HPD says.

My condolence go out to the family. My sister knew her because of her ex husband. I feel for her kids. May God bless them and give them the strength to move forward with out there mom. May Laura rest in peace.
