Last Year's Top Baby Names, and More of Houston's Oddest Ones

Categories: Whatever

You don't make either list, dude.
The Social Security Administration has released its official list of the top ten baby names for 2010. While people might be naming their boys like Biblical prophets, they seem to be naming their girls after spicy Italian or Latina movie stars.

Without further ado, the top boys' names are, in order: Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Jayden (WTF?), William, Alexander, Noah, Daniel, Aiden and Anthony. Kinda Old Testamentish...

And for girls: Isabella, Sophia, Emma, Olivia, Ava, Emily, Abigail, Chloe, Madison and Mia.

During our damn-near daily trolling of Harris County Courthouse records, we've come across some other far more, shall we say, distinctive, names that didn't make this list, in 2010 or any other year. Read 'em after the jump, and read the best ones we found last year here:

I'm sorry, but the name "Mondale Manley Esprit" is amazing and I'm kinda jealous.

Cocunista!!??? Still, one of my favorite things to do is browse the Atlanta Journal Constitution's database of Georgia baby names organized by type - i.e. animal, cars, corporate names, alcohol, etc. It's freaking hilarious.

My great-great grandfather was Ptolemy Sledge Jackson, so I'm legally prohibited from laughing at any of these....which sucks.
